Iran urges Arab League to help boost Islamic world unity
TEHRAN - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Tuesday that Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit should make efforts in line with boosting integrity in the world of Islam.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran calls on the world of Islam to realize the volatile situation of the region [the Middle East region] and the world at the current juncture and calls for more integrity and unity in the world of Islam against common threats such as the Zionist regime of Israel’s aggression, terrorism and extremism,” he said.
He also dismissed claims of Iran’s interference in the regional countries’ affairs.
Regional crises can only be settled through dialogue and political solutions and no country has the right to interfere in affairs of the countries in the region, he added.
He also said that terrorists seek to create division among the Islamic countries and marginalize actions of the Zionist regime and Takfiris.
In an interview with Asharq al-Awsat published on Sunday, the Arab League chief claimed that Iran is interfering in the affairs of Arab countries.
